Nestled in the heart of Boulder, Colorado, Far & Away Studios is where creativity meets craftsmanship. With a deep-rooted passion for sound and decades of expertise, Geoff Gray has transformed this studio into the region’s premier destination for musicians, sound artists, and voiceover professionals.
Geoff’s journey began with a borrowed Tascam 4-track recorder, and his drive to perfect the art of recording led him to work alongside legendary figures like Les Paul. Starting in New York and now thriving in Boulder, Geoff has honed his craft across a wide array of genres—Rock, Folk, Metal, Funk, Country, Blues, and Singer/Songwriter—creating authentic and timeless sounds.
At Far & Away, we believe in the power of analog warmth paired with digital precision. With a collection of carefully curated vintage equipment, including 4 Studer machines and the iconic Fairchild 470, Geoff delivers “the fattest, cleanest sounds” that bring out the best in your music. Whether you’re recording an album or crafting a voiceover project, the studio’s blend of analog and Pro Tools technology ensures unparalleled quality.
Far & Away is also a hub for learning and collaboration. Our recording courses and skilled assistants are here to help bring your vision to life, no matter the size or scope of your project.
Let’s make magic together. Whether you’re chasing rich, warm analog tones or the precision of digital clarity, Far & Away Recording Studio is the perfect place to make your sound unforgettable.
Geoff’s first studio experience was at 914 Studios in Blauvelt, NY where he played guitar with his group and guested on various other projects. He caught the bug to sit behind the console and move the occasional fader. Concurrently he met Les Paul and began his studies with the master. He bought a tape machine from Les and Far & Away was born. The move to Colorado afforded the chance to start over in a perfect building with peaceful rural surroundings.
